One Church is looking for a self-initiator, creative-type, who thrives in a high-change, high-try culture, can manage multiple creative-types and projects at the same time, can strongly lead out and challenge the status quo for the greater good of the church, while successfully achieving big vision goals cast by church leadership. This role shapes the voice, visuals, and storytelling of a growing multi-campus church. We are looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, communicates clearly, and can manage both the creative and organizational sides of church communication.

About the Role

The Communications Director is responsible for overseeing the Communications department, consisting of the Visual Arts and the Digital Strategy teams. The goal of this role is to help define and support the One Church brand, ongoing and growing ministries, neighborhood outreach, and church capital campaigns. In doing so, this role is responsible for the development, implementation, and final execution of communication strategies across all contexts and platforms. This person will also lead the front-of-house communications team, which consists of volunteer front desk personnel.

This person will work closely with the Creative Arts Minister, Senior Pastor, Lead Pastors, Executive Minister, and ministry leaders to ensure everything published by One Church is clear, unified, and aligned with the mission of the church.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a good relationship and open door policy with church leadership, staff, all directors and actively mine for information that needs to be communicated to staff, congregations and/or community.
  • Recruit, lead, schedule, and oversee the front-of-house communications team, which consists of volunteer front desk personnel.
  • Design/propose specific promotional plans/strategies, utilizing all appropriate mediums, while intentionally and purposefully considering the best results for the target audience.
  • Field all ministry requests, and manage a content calendar (Asana, Podio, etc.) involving deadlines, details, etc. for all projects for all team members.
  • Work with the Visual Arts Team and the Digital Strategy Team to review communication requests in a timely manner and populate promo accordingly.
  • Create, manage, and keep accurate all promo/assets that involve services (verbals, slides, etc.).
  • Keep abreast of the master ministry calendar, anticipate needs, implement promo accordingly, and lead out with church leadership and all department leads, initiating collaboration where advantageous to all parties.
  • Experience in copywriting/editing in various genres, as it pertains to creating and overseeing the overall voice of One Church in all forms of media, as well as long-form material.
  • Responsible for the proofing and final approval of all deliverables within the department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of communications.
  • Inventory and distribute all digital files, print deliverables, and One Church merchandise to appropriate parties.
  • Initiate processes and procedures to increase the functionality of the Communications department.
  • Oversee, manage, and collaborate with all team members within the Communications department, as well as freelance artists and various outside vendors as projects dictate.
  • Oversee the creation of graphics for sermon series, events, ministries, and social platforms.
  • Manage and update the church website on both backend and frontend (WordPress).
Other Responsibilities:
  • Be unafraid to schedule and lead meetings with a pursuit and passion for innovation, collaboration, and clarity.
  • Raise up and disciple volunteers to support the various departments/team members within the Communications Team.
  • Be mindful of the needs of the Communications team members, providing healthy work directives and ideal creative environments, while discipling and appreciating each member accordingly to ensure individual and team success.

  • A growing follower of Jesus who loves the local church and communicates with humility and clarity
  • Experience with WordPress website management is a plus
